The Highlander Bar Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria

There has been a Highlander Bar in Puerto Rico since 1997, when we opened as the only Rangers Supporters Club in Gran Canaria or the Canary Islands. In October 2007 we closed the wee bar for the last time and moved to a new, larger bar within the same complex, and on Friday 2nd November 2007 we will open the new bar!

The old bar in Puerto Rico was small and cozy and everyone could easily make friends and get to know each other. However with the growing popularity of the Highlander we were running out of space during busy games and so have now pulled down the shutter on the small bar for the last time.

The Highlander offers a friendly welcome to anyone who enjoys scottish hospitality and good family entertainment in Puerto Rico
At the bar our friendly staff will give you your favourite drinks, and make you welcome in Puerto Rico
We have all your favourite drinks at the Highlander. We only stock branded names, and donīt sell local spirits. We have many scottish favourites such as Morgan Spiced, Blossom Hill Wine, and Irn-Bru - we even sell buckie! The new Highlander will also sell various hot snacks including genuine Steak Lorne in a Roll (not pink lint!). To get the taste you love we have a special arrangement with a Scottish master butcher and we use his traditional recipe and produce.

The new Highlander Pub and bar in Puerto Rico has lots of space! we have 100 square metres of floor space on the inside, and a further covered terrace of 85 square metres outside, so we can celebrate great matches in style. The new terrace will have a full size 8ft american tournament pool table, while sun lovers can enjoy Gran Canaria's perfect climate. There is now plenty of room for those with families or buggies during the day.

Here are some pictures to give you a sneak preview of the new Highlander Bar. As you can see Alex has reclaimed the original crest from the floor of the old Highlander and it now has a new position on the wall of the new bar.... and wait till you see the new crest!
